Red Dead Redemption Announced for PC
After a long, long wait, Rockstar have finally announced that the first ‘Red Dead Redemption’ game alongside its ‘Undead Nightmare’ DLC will be coming to PC later this month on October 29th. This comes almost five years after the port for Red Dead 2 hit the platform and has been one of the biggest asks from fans of the series. Until later this month, modding the first Red Dead game was notoriously difficult. Thankfully, this should be a lot easier thanks to this official release.
The game will be available via Steam, the Epic Games Store as well as Rockstar’s own game launcher. It will also come with PC specific enhancements that include native 4K resolution, monitor support for both Ultrawide (21:9) and Super Ultrawide (32:9), HDR10 support, and full keyboard and mouse functionality. After much demand, this should be the definitive version of Rockstar’s first iteration on the open world cowboy genre. Why it took so long to release is another question and reiterates the studio’s strange policy regarding the rare rereleases of classic games.
It's important to note that this isn’t a remake or remaster and is simply a port. This makes the delay in this release even more strange. Considering how flat and underwhelming the PS4 and Switch ports of Red Dead Redemption were (with there being essentially no improvements and the same old glitches present for a £39.99 price tag), its unlikely that this PC port will blow anyone away. The price point for this port is yet to be revealed but expect Rockstar to charge at least £29.99 which, considering the game being over 15 years old, seems steep. You can pick this up on October 29th if you’re interested.
