New Feature for Game Pass Subscribers Coming in November
As part of an update to their Game Pass subscription plan reportedly coming next month, Xbox seem to have plans to bring Cloud Gaming to more than just the Game Pass library. Currently, if you have a Game Pass subscription, you can stream any release on the service via the cloud- removing the need to download it onto your Xbox or PC. Of course, this comes with their limitations of your internet connection and it being strong enough to handle the game in question.
As of next month, however, Xbox will be rolling out a new feature to beta versions of Game Pass that will allow the streaming of any game that a player owns- whether or not its on the service. For example, if you purchased a game that is not included in the Game Pass library, you would be able to now stream that to your other devices (including mobile) without the need to download it onto that device. This obviously drastically increases the number of games that will be playable on practically anything with a screen and stable internet connection.
Not every game will be immediately available through this feature but its likely that Microsoft will roll this out to a majority of titles as quickly as possible to add even more value to their Game Pass subscription offerings. This news comes alongside rumours that players will soon be able to purchase games from the Xbox store directly on their android devices and stream them to said device straight away. It’s a huge expansion of Xbox’s ‘Play anywhere’ model and is likely an additional attempt to justify the frequent price bumps to Game Pass in the past year.
There is no concrete date on when this beta feature will launch officially but, if it works as it should, this may be available towards the beginning of 2025 for all Game Pas subscribers. If you’ve been waiting to play some of your game library until you can stream them to the comfort of your phone, you may not need to wait long. Keep an eye on Xbox’s official channels for additional information in the coming months.
