LittleBigPlanet 3 Will be Removed from the PS Store this Month
Announced in a Tweet from the official LittleBigPlanet Twitter account, it has been confirmed that the PS3 classic ‘LittleBigPlanet 3’ will no longer be purchasable via the PS Store after October 31st of this year. Since this tweet, they have confirmed that anyone who received the game via PS Plus would continue to have access to it after it gets taken offline. This, of course, will not impact any physical reselling of the game second hand so there’s no need to rush and buy a copy if you have a physical version.
The reason for LittleBigPlanet 3 being removed likely comes as a part of Sony’s decision to not reopen the servers for the game. These were shut down temporarily earlier this year to deal with a slew of hacks that made the online servers unstable. As of now, however, these servers have yet to reopen and, thanks to this reveal, we can confirm that they will not be going back online. This means that any online levels or content will not be accessible and has not been accessible since January of this year.
Sadly, with the servers already being taken offline, downloading existing user created content is impossible before the game is taken off the PS Store for good. It’s a shame that PlayStation were unable to find a solution to the server issues as this marks another game that’s being sadly forgotten about with the shutdown of its servers. This also means that all of those user generated levels are now lost unless you managed to download them before the server shutdown.
The tweet announcing the removal also confirmed that any DLC would be delisted and inaccessible unless previously purchased at the end of this month. Essentially, this is the end for LittleBigPlanet 3 and, while you’ll still be able to play it, you won’t be able to access any DLC or online servers. You will be limited to your own creations past the end of this month. If you did want to pick the game up before it disappears for good, you can purchase it for £15.99 now on the PS Store. However, you’re more likely to find a cheaper used physical copy at resellers if you’re looking to save a bit of money.
