Xbox Game Pass Receives Three Big Games in July

In just a few weeks, three brand new games will be coming to Game Pass on day one in what is shaping up to be a respectable month for the service. The first, Dungeons of Hinterberg, comes on July 18th with a nice cell shaded art style and interesting action RPG combat. The game is also set to have some social sim elements that allow you to improve your powers by building relationships with the different denizens of the alps. That leads into the most unique aspect of this project: the setting. Hinterberg is set within the Austrian alps and the developers, Microbird Games, lean into this with gorgeous views, relaxing music and an intriguing premise about magic erupting from the mountains. Hopefully, this project lives up to its very interesting premise when it launches later this month.

The next game coming day one to Game Pass in July is also coming on the 18th. Flinlock: Siege of Dawn is an action souls-lite developed by A44 games and sports some very interesting world building and gameplay mechanics. By combining magic and guns, you face against the Gods themselves which, just based on its premise, sounds fantastic. Its unclear just yet what the game means when it markets itself as a ‘soulslite’ as many previews compare it to other games in the soulslike genre with minimal changes but, judging by the name, there may be less frustrating difficulty than fans of similar games are used to with this one. You can find out when this one comes to Game Pass in a couple of weeks.

The final big release (and by far the weirdest) for the service in July is ‘Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess’. Even with the several trailers and previews we’ve been shown, the gameplay of this action strategy game published by Capcom is still unclear. It has something to do with guiding spirits or destroying demons with some traditional combat and tower defense elements thrown in. With a very unique premise, you can check out this release when it comes day one to Xbox Game Pass on July 19th. With such a diverse varity of games on offer within just a couple of days of eachother, everyone should find something to love in this lineup. With an even beefier September including STALKER 2 and Frostpunk 2, make sure to enjoy July’s offering while you can before you get overwhelmed by the early holiday season.
