Starfield Mod Support Coming in 2024

Bethesda have announced that it is giving modders the tools to really transform Starfield in 2024. While mods are already releasing at a rapid rate, nothing too big is going to release until Bethesda hand the keys to mod creators to go wild with the Creation Kit 2. In a recent Famitsu interview with Todd Howard, however, it was announced that the company would be sharing these with the community at some point next year- which is certainly exciting news.

While quite a large window of time, its likely that Bethesda will want to give players all the tools they need to make the most impressive mods as soon as they can. As stated multiple times in pre-release interviews, Todd Howard and his team understand the importance of modding in adding to the longevity of their games- and its the reason as to why Skyrim is constantly in the most played Steam games twelve years after release.

As for mod support on the Xbox console, it will likely line up with the release of the Creation Kit 2 for PC. With Skyrim and Fallout 4 both still receiving multiple mod updates for the Xbox Series X and S, it would be surprising for fans to have to wait years to see any additional content available to them. Considering the size of Starfield, hopefully the tiny 5GB limit on Skyrim for Xbox is increased to allow fans to really experience what mod creators are capable of without having to constantly rearrange their library.

In the same interview, Todd Howard was also questioned on when the DLC- titled ‘Shattered Space’- would be coming. Considering the full game was only released last week, its likely that the team will focus on bug fixes and patches before any real work on the DLC begins. While Starfield has been divisive among fans and critics, the vast majority of players are loving their time exploring the stars- and with additional official and unofficial content to come in the next few years, there’s a lot to look forward to with the future of Starfield.
